Even shopping is green in Ischia. Walking through the picturesque streets and squares of the island, you easily come across shops and markets where you can buy fruit and vegetables grown by local farmers and fresh fish that the fishermen bring from the sea to the island’s kitchens every day. There are numerous shops selling typical products, including the renowned amari (bitter digestive liqueurs) made with wild herbs that grow spontaneously on the green island.
Wine lovers will be able to experience food and wine tours to discover the local wineries and farms, where they can taste and purchase the precious Ischia bottles and taste traditional dishes, prepared with locally-sourced raw materials.
The island of Ischia is also a great artisan laboratory, where natural materials such as clay and wood are laboriously worked. From precious terracotta and ceramic artefacts, including the renowned majolica, woven raffia baskets, very fine embroidery to the extraordinary works of woodworking masters, the workshops of Ischia artisans are a small world of shapes, colours and art to discover.
