The winery takes its name from one of the old inactive craters of Ischia, today hidden in the shade of chestnut and oak trees. The winery is committed to the recovery of 2 hectares of terraces and the wood that surrounds the area by planting selected vines. Last but not least, the area has been enriched with the cultivation of fruit trees, olive trees and the recovery of the “siena”, a typical environment for growing vegetables.
The company has always been committed to safeguarding the island’s winemaking tradition, as in the case of restoration of old wineries and vineyards. Common goal is being a reference and guardian of the tradition of the island of Ischia.
The vines, as well as every other detail or aspect of the company, are part of a path of rediscovery of the old island traditions. Traditionally vines climb on chestnut poles and canes held together by twisted willow twigs and cane leaves, and here, 500 meters above sea level, it is possible to immerse yourself in a truly unique and fascinating scenario.
During the year Crateca organizes:
- Company visits by reservation for paths set between agriculture and tradition to discover the ancient routes and stone houses
- Organoleptic experience with tasting of the four wines
- The traditional harvest organized every year
- Concerts and musical meetings among the vineyards
