In the night between Saturday and Sunday in Ischia, twenty-five small loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) reached the sea thanks to the intervention of a bathing establishment keeper. An unprecedented event for the island!

Another nest was found on the Spiaggia della Chiaia in Forio. According to experts, many other turtles could hatch as undamaged eggs were found.

The Area Marina Protetta del Regno di Nettuno (Marine Protected Area) carries out monitoring activities in collaboration with the coast guard and in coordination with the Turtle Point of the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (Zoological Station).
